VAHS – Eagles Chapter (Williamsburg)
The Williamsburg chapter of the VAHS is privileged to meet at the Williamsburg-Jamestown Airport terminal in an upstairs conference room with glass walls and a panoramic overlook of the airfield. Monthly meetings start at 10 AM on the third Wednesday of each month and feature one hour long presentations by invited speakers on a wide variety of aeronautical topics, both civilian and military. A particular emphasis is placed on achieving good display qualities for visual material and readily hearable audio. Following the meeting the speaker is hosted by the membership for lunch at Charley’s, a widely acclaimed restaurant on the terminal’s ground floor.
The Eagles Chapter membership consists of 95-110 aviation enthusiasts, pilots of all types of aircraft, mechanics, engineers and historians. Typically, 45-65 members are in attendance at monthly meetings. Most arrive 20-30 minutes early to socialize over a cup of coffee. Because of the wide experience base of our membership, members are continually learning something new and interesting as a result of friendships developed there. Annual events include a holiday party during the Christmas holidays, a spring picnic and one or two trips to aviation or military museums. Local community involvement consists of providing series of lectures for the Christopher Wren Association, a continuing adult education program hosted by the College of William and Mary.
